Stockbridge pre-school has a key worker system. This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom she/he is particularly responsible. Your child’s key person will he the person who works with you to make sure that what the pre-school provides is right for your child’s particular needs and interests. When your child first starts at the pre-school, she/he will help your child to settle and throughout your child’s time at pre-school, she/he will help your child to benefit from the pre-school’s activities.
The key worker keeps a record of achievement for each of their key children. Staff and parents working together on their children’s records of achievement is one of the ways in which Stockbridge Pre-school and parents work together in partnership. Your child’s record of achievement helps us to celebrate together his/her achievements and to work together to provide what your child needs for his/her well-being and to make progress. This will be done by taking regular observations of your child at play. All new developments will be noted and recorded, a play plan will then be formulated for your child to reach the next stepping stone. In doing this the key worker will liase closely with you and you may discuss your child’s progress with her/him. Helping to keep our records up to date with developments that may take place at home. Whilst doing this you will be able to help develop and review our play plans.
When your child leaves Stockbridge pre-school to go on to school or another setting we will supply you with a transfer record. The key worker will work with you to compile your child’s school transfer record when you are both happy that it reflects a true picture of your child both are required to sign the document. It will than be passed to school either by us or by you. The purpose of the transfer record is:
* To reflect the progress that children make.
* To inform others, particularly parents/carers and other practitioners of the child’s progress.
* To recognise and celebrate children’s achievements. To help children settle quickly into their new environment.
* To ensure the child's learning is seamless.
Your key worker will observe confidentiality as necessary.
