A parent management committee - whose members are elected by the parents of the
children who attend the pre-school - manages the pre-school.
The management committee has to have 3 officers, a chair person and vice chair, a treasurer and a secretary. The remainder of the committee is made of 9 willing parents.
The elections take place at the pre-school’s Annual General Meeting which is held in October each year.
The committee is responsible for:
* Managing the pre-school’s finances;
* Employing and managing staff;
* Making sure that the pre-school has — and works to — policies which help provide a high quality service; and
* Making sure that the pre-school works in partnership with the children’s parents.
Another role, just as important is fund raising. You can ensure that we have enough
funds to purchase major pieces of equipment or for the refurbishment of different areas. However being on the committee is not all about work, many new parents find that by joining the committee they make friendships that outlast pre-school life. Therefore it is your Pre-school, and by joining the committee you are ensuring that your voice is heard. Do not miss this important opportunity, speak to any committee
member or member of staff to find out more.
